... the 1960's, that is!
It's been a while since I hosted a party, hasn't it? My birthday is coming up at the end of the month and I feel like a party. Perhaps it's a sign that I'm getting older, but a night out in a bar doesn't really sound that appealing any more. (Any excuse to make canapés, hehe).
Now, I know we're all ecstatic that Mad Men has been renewed for 2 more seasons - what better way to mark this occasion than with a big ol' Mad Men themed party? (I say "big", but it is actually going to be quite a small event, with just a few friends invited. Much smaller than my Mum's epic birthday party of '08!)
Here's the invitation we made:
Cool, huh?
The invitations have been sent; the opera gloves have been ordered; the martini glasses have been polished. Now all I gotta do is figure out how to backcomb my hair and decide on the menu! Martinis and chicken kievs are obviously already on the list. I've got my original, vintage '67 copy of The Margaret Fulton Cookbook at the ready and I'm super-duper excited!!
We've already got a pretty solid idea of how the night is going to look and feel, but if anyone has any ideas for retro food, decorations or music I'd love to hear them!
I'll be testing out some recipes in the lead up, as well as sourcing some retro crockery and decorations - and will share the journey on my blog. Yay!
