World Book Night 2013: Bossypants by Tina Fey

I am very excited to be a part of World Book Night 2013!  Last year was my first year participating in this event I had a so much fun passing out my books.  World Book Night is an annual celebration to share a love of reading and books.  This year books will be given away in over 6000 cities in the United States.

I love to read so sharing my love of books with others is something that I really enjoy doing.   Reading has been an important part of my life since I was a child.   Even when I am busy I try reading at least 1 book a week.  Sometimes it's a book I'm reading for a book club, other times it's a book that's been recommended to me, and sometimes it's just a book I choose to read.  My current favorites are paranormal, mysteries, and young adult books.

I'm a special education teacher and reading is a struggle for many of my students.  No matter how old they are, when a student has that "aha!" moment and first begins to read it's always a thrill.  Teaching someone a skill they will need for the rest of their life is an amazing feeling.

This year I'm giving out the book Bossypants by Tina Fey.  If you've ever seen Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live or one of her many movies you know just how funny she is.  This book showcases some of her funniest personal stories.  I think this is a great book for people that don't like to read because it's funny, it's easy to read one chapter at a time, and it's written by someone that many people know.

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV.

She has seen both these dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon—from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've all suspected: you're no one until someone calls you bossy.  (-synopsis from Goodreads)
