Monster Bundt Cake

I know, I know.  Halloween was last week but this Bundt cake is just too fun not to share!  I made it for my students behavioral reward party the day before Halloween so I didn't have time to put it on here.  Since it is a monster cake it can actually be made any time of the year and served to your "little monsters".

The kids loved this cake because of all the fun colors in it as well as the eyes all over the outside of it.  It's simple to make because I just used a boxed cake mix and colored it with food coloring.  If you are wondering how I got the deep colors for the cake, it's because I use AmeriColor Gel Paste Coloring for all the baked goods and frosting.  It's worth every penny I pay for it.

The candy eyes I found at a local cake supply shop.  You can make this cake with other colors as well.  It might be fun to try red, green, and white for Christmas but for this cake I went with purple, green, and orange.  Then I drizzled it with white, orange, and black.  It was fun to make and even more fun to see the kids giggling at the eyes on it.

2.  In a large bowl combine the Halloween Funfetti Cake mix, water, oil, and eggs.  Mix well.

3.  Divide the batter into 3 bowls.  Color one bowl green, one orange, and one purple.

4.  Pour the orange batter into the bottom of the Bundt pan.  Pour the green batter on top of the orange and smooth it.  Then pour the purple batter on top of the green and smooth it out.

5.  Take a butter knife and swirl the cake .  Bake according to the package directions.

6.  Remove the cake from the oven and cool for 15 minutes.  Run a butter knife around the edge of the pan and invert it onto a wire rack. Cool completely.

7.  In a small bowl combine the powered sugar, vanilla, and the milk a tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.  Divide the icing into 3 bowls.  Leave one bowl white, color 1 orange, and color 1 black.

8.  Place each of the icing colors in a zip top bag, snip off the end, and drizzle over top of the cake.  Quickly place the candy eyes all over the cake, placing them on the icing drizzle, and allow to dry.
